All car rentals are governed by a comprehensive Rental Agreement that you will receive upon booking confirmation or vehicle pickup. This document outlines the specific terms, conditions, insurance information, fees, and your obligations for the rental. In the event of any discrepancies between these Terms and the Rental Agreement, the Rental Agreement will prevail.
Eligibility Criteria
Renting a vehicle requires:
- To hire a vehicle in Smethwick, you must be at least 21 years old, although specific age restrictions may apply depending on the vehicle type. A valid, full driving licence for the relevant category is required, held for the duration outlined in the Rental Agreement. Additionally, valid identification and proof of your current address must be provided, along with payment information and a security deposit. Booking and Payment Process
- Reservations can be completed via our website, by telephone, or directly at our Smethwick office. A deposit may be necessary to confirm your booking. The remaining balance and security deposit are generally payable upon vehicle pickup. Prices are listed in British Pounds (£) and include VAT where relevant. We accept major credit and debit cards, with secure processing through established payment providers.
Vehicle Pickup and Drop-off
- At the time of vehicle collection in Smethwick, it is your responsibility to conduct a thorough inspection and promptly report any pre-existing damage. A vehicle condition report will be completed and signed to document this. The vehicle should be returned in the same condition as when it was collected, taking into account normal wear and tear. Damage resulting from negligence, misuse, or violation of these Terms will be your responsibility, irrespective of insurance provisions.
6. Modifications and Cancellations
Cancellation and amendment policies differ based on the type of booking and the notice given. For specific information, please consult your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement. Be aware that late cancellations or failure to show up may incur additional charges.
Prohibited Activities
Prohibited uses for rental vehicles
- The vehicle must not be used for illegal activities or for racing, rallying, off-roading, or similar dangerous pursuits. Transporting hazardous materials is strictly prohibited. Sub-letting or permitting unauthorized drivers is not allowed. Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs is unacceptable. The vehicle should only be used for its intended purpose and within specified passenger and weight limits. Travel outside the agreed geographical area requires prior authorization.
Breaching these terms may lead to rental cancellation and extra fees.
8. Liability Cap
To the fullest extent allowed by English and Welsh law, Car Hire Smethwick will not be responsible for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, including loss of profits or data, resulting from your use of our services. Our total liability for any claims will not exceed the rental amount paid in the past year. This limitation does not apply to cases of negligence leading to death or personal injury, or instances of fraud.

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will fall under the exclusive jurisdiction of the relevant courts.
